Quickr Admin – Starting

Quickr is a simplified approach from IBM Lotus to create places for team collaborations. The administration is simple, but you just need to read the guide and try to become familiar with it. Here you will find a step-by-step series for administrating IBM Lotus Quickr. So let’s get started.

Accessing Quickr:

  1. Fire-up your browser, currently recommended browsers are Internet Explorer 6+ and Mozilla Firefox 2.0+. Open url: http://hostname.yourcompany.com:10038/lotus/quickr (depends on the website installation).
  2. Log in to the portal user the provided Administrator user name and password.

Starting and Stopping Websphere Application Server and Quickr

  1. Starting: go to was_profile_root/bin and then enter the following command: startServer.bat server1 (win32) or startServer.sh server1 (Linux). server1 is your Websphere Application Server (WAS) administrative server. To verify that your WAS is running, go to http://hostname.yourcompany.com:10002/snoop. The default port can be found in WC_defaulthost in serverindex.xml file. The file is located at was_profile_root/config/cells/cell_name/nodes/node_name/serverindex.xml. If you want to access the Administrative Console for WAS, go to url: http://hostname.yourcompany.com:10027/admin/. The default port can be found in WC_adminhost in serverindex.xml. If you install WAS as service in Win32, you can start it from Service Management Console in IBM WebSphere Application Server V6 – server1 in the list of services.
  2. Stopping: go to was_profile_root/bin and then enter the following command: stopServer.bat server1 (Win32) or stopServer.sh server1 (Linux). If you install WAS as service in Win32, you can stop it from Service Management Console.

Starting and Stopping Quickr

Start Quickr Application Server:

  1. Check if the following services have been started: database, LDAP server, external web server, websphere application server, websphere_portal enterprise application
  2. Open command prompt and go to was_profile_root/bin
  3. Enter the following command: startServer.bat WebSphere_Portal (Win32) or startServer.sh WebSphere_Portal (Linux)
  4. After the servers are all running, open web browser and go to http://hostname.yourcompany.com:port_number/lotus/quickr. The port_number is specified in WpsHostPort property in the wpconfig.properties file. The default port is: 10038

Stopping Quickr Application server:

  1. Open command prompt and go to was_profile_root/bin
  2. Enter the following command: stopServer.bat WebSphere_Portal -user admin_userid -password admin_password (use stopServer.sh in Linux)
