Installing OS on HP ProLiant Blade Server

If you want to install operating system, e.g. Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, on HP ProLiant Blade Server, you need to prepare the drivers supplied by HP in HP ProLiant SmartStart CD. You also need to pay attention whether to install the 32 bit or 64 bit edition and of course you use the correct SmartStart version for the ProLiant server you want to install on.

In order to use the CD, you need to boot from DVD drive. Choose deploy option and complete the following dialog to finish operating system installation. Some entries are: user name, password, product key, and license type. After that you need to choose the size of partition where the operating system is going to be installed. After copying drivers and operating system files, the server needs to be rebooted and please disconnect the SmartStart CD from DVD drive to boot from harddisk. Follow the operating system setup process to continue installation until finish.
